ESA and Roscosmos Announced Manned Mission to Mars

Heads of Roscosmos and the European Space Agency discussed future manned mission to Mars at Air Show MAKS-2011, was announced on Wednesday, August 17,2011.

‘Flight to Mars is needed and, in my opinion, we will perform the first flight together’, – said the ESA’s head, Jean-Jacques Dordain.

However, the parties found it difficult to name specific dates of such a joint expedition.

Currently, the European Space Agency cooperates with its Russian counterpart Roscosmos on two Mars exploration projects: ExoMars and Phobos-Grunt.
